Chubby Bubbies and the Redlands Centre for Women
Our last formal meeting for 2018 was full of fun and laughter, information about RYTS and a lovely thank you from Sandy Shuttleworth, President of the Redlands Centre for Women. Cleveland Rotary recently gave the Centre a donation to help with the amazing work they do in the Redlands, particularly with young women. Sandy went home with the beautiful teddy bears - they were to have been raffled off and members unanimously agreed to donate them to the Centre for their care packs.
Clive Shepherd also gave members a comprehensive report on his visit to the RYTS camp last week, meeting the teenagers who spent a week in the camp - Regional Youth Transition Seminar. Clive, Ishbel and Elwyn went out to Perseverence Dam to have lunch with the group, and to see how the camp works. They came back convinced that this is a great Rotary program which will continue to be supported by our club.
Ron Loney presented Shirley with the engraved "Cleveland Rotary Annes" teapot, which has been in June's care for some years. Shirley will take it to the Redland Museum to see if they want it, otherwise it will be stored, as it can no longer be used, being very old aluminium.
A fun evening, made special with the RSL decorating the tables and serving a nice Christmas Ham meal, finished with President Jan serenading Pete for his 60th birthday!
